This newsgroup was started in January 1998, when there was much talk in the news media in regard to Sinn Fein's efforts to begin peace talks to permanently end the conflict in the North of Ireland.

Since then, the group has continued pretty well, with a steady stream of discussion and interesting posts, on both the troubles in the North and on Irish history in general. -information provided by Jim & Maura Goodluck
